Sales Tax Initiative has Sufficient Signatures for Ballot

According to City Manager Bill Lindsay, The City of Richmond received word on August 26 from the Contra Costa County Clerk’s office that they have validated the required number of signatures to qualify the initiative petition regarding the additional one-half cent sales tax for the ballot. The final verification was as follows:

Number of signatures filed: 6,664

Number of registered voters: 39,407

Minimum number of valid signatures required (10%): 3,941

Number of signatures found sufficient: 3,941

Number of signatures found not sufficient: 2,723

This signature validation was certified by the County Clerk on Friday, August 26th.
