Beginning on November 1, 2024, which is the date of my mother’s first letter from her Hawaii trip 84 years ago, I am serializing day by day, the book,
Cecilia
King’s Extraordinary Senior Trip, which you can obtain from Amazon in either Kindle or paperback.
I hope you enjoy the upcoming nine-months in Hawaii 1940-41. You can order the entire book from Amazon in either paperback or Kindle format,

Friday.
I just mailed a letter to F. Ellen telling her my date of arrival in L.A. and to Uncle Arthur saying I’d be there the 28th or 29th – but mail schedules are so indefinite
& even secretive now, one never knows exactly when the planes & boats leave.
I’ve been cleaning all morning & am taking today & tonight off for a good dull rest. Uncle Ed told me last night he was afraid I’d been going too hard & would be sick, so last night I folded
up right after dinner and had Les bring me home.
Monday I found an exquisite piece of coral – but was afraid to pack it myself, so had it sent to you – so if it’s broken
in any way be sure to see it is sent back & exchanged. There were three little sea-animal shells in the package, too.
If you’d rather have larger or smaller corals I can get it in a coarser kind, very inexpensive, & pack it in my things. But this was so lovely I couldn’t resist it.
We had a lovely luncheon at Ruth’s yesterday – we two, & two navy wives – then played bridge. My bridge is really improving
wonderfully – yesterday I bid every hand exactly to the trick.
In Hawaii now, we see something very unusual in the night sky – both the Southern Cross and Pole Star are seen at once. This is only for about a week because the S. Cross sets before sunset
now.
