Honolulu June 26

Dear Daddy and Mother —

Up practically at daybreak this morning, and still mostly asleep – and with a million things to do or see about.

Last night I went to Bernheims dinner party — & of
all nights, when I’d promised to be early to help with introductions – my date was 15 minutes late! So Arnold & I went in practically with bowed heads & Mrs. B. was pretty mad – so I covered up the damage as well as possible with passing cocktails,
etc. At seven we went to DeRussy for dinner – we had fun at our end of the table because Babe, Gifford, Randy, Ann & I were all together – but all the other guests were couplish. Had the cleverest flower birds for center bouquets – birds of paradise doctored
to be exactly like robins.

Budge Meridith was supposed to come over at nine this morning – he just came in from Kaui & leaves for Hawaii tomorrow. Babe is coming over later to talk over the steak supper we’re having Saturday
night at her house (she and Ann & I are giving it) – then at noon I’m going to Ruth Boyd’s for lunch and bridge –

Then rushing home for a quick change to go out to dinner with Leo.
What a day! At least I can rest tomorrow night and do some clothes repairing in the morning.

Don’t remember when my last letter was mailed but think it was Sunday. Not much news since then. Sunday afternoon Bryan & I had fun just playing around Waikiki – went to the zo. Then out to
Scho. For Mully’s dinner party at the club, after which I went to “A Woman’s Face,” which I had already seen. Monday night had an awfully good time with Jimmy Starns (Navy Ens) – we danced at the South Seas. He’s
so nice and good fun. Tuesday night Max & I are supposed to go to the Punahou
[1]
Centennial Pageant but he was regimental O.D. so we stayed out at Sch. – I spent the night with Mrs. Holmes & came in with Bob & Max
