Monday night –

And reporting from weekend outing. Went down to DeRussy and perched the afternoon away in the sun at the Pavilion – went down with max – then joined the usual crowd of Haaland,
Dunlop et cetera. Made a very nice date for Thursday night – a dinner party of Dunlop’s family & a few of their guests at
THE Pacific Club! We headed Schofield way – and met Bob hand for a “sizzling steak” at Kemoos. Then after dinner went to Maj. & Mrs. Holmes. This morning (Army Day holiday) Max & I had lunch at the Officers Club then went out to a 13th FA
camp to meet Walt & Mary Mully & Bob. They were having a picnic & softball – officers vs N.C.O.s—so we stayed a while and argued as to how the evening should be spent – the hike to the falls being out on account of a heavy rain that made the trail dangerous.
Finally settled on DeRussy.

Saw my date for Sat. night down there — & my hostess — & Haaland who asked me for Wed. & Sat. nights – finally settled on Sat. afternoon. We left about dark, and went to “Pauls”
for dinner, then to “Tin Pan Alley” at the Waikiki Theatre.

Sunday afternoon we went down to Iolani place grounds where model Army camps were set up for exhibition – tents, guns, machines, searchlights, med. Equipment, machine shops
on wheels, airplanes, etc. It was like a Portia 4th of July picnic – crowds of gooks, Orientals & sailors eating ice cream & dragging squalling brats. Hula girls posing with service men, or sitting on cannons for camera eyes.
