The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert Friday afternoon after concrete once again fell from the upper deck of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge onto the lanes below.

The right lane and shoulder in the eastbound direction were closed as of 2:04 p.m. Crews were on scene performing emergency roadwork in the area.

CHP advised motorists should expect major delays and use alternate routes if possible. No estimated time of reopening was given.
