Trainings are available throughout the week to any Alameda County school and its educators. We can help you link the 4R’s in your classroom and school garden to curriculum that supports the CA content standards.
Trainings also offer customized technical support on soil science, composting, reclaimed garden design, sheet mulching or more.
Participants receive mini-grants to jump start your own program, free 4-part student program, free activity and curriculum readers.

Gardening at the Richmond Greenway

Meet at the corner of Ohio and 6th Street., City of Richmond Join your neighbors to help beautify the Richmond Greenway by planting winter veggies in the community edibles gardens with Urban Tilth, maintaining Berryland with the 5% Local Coalition, or helping to install the new Greenway Habitat Garden with the Watershed Project.
This project is a collaboration of the Friends of the Richmod Greenway, the 5% Local Coalition, Urban Tilth and the Watershed Project.

Volunteer for the Bay Area Oyster monitoring Program
Meet at the parking lot of Point Pinole Regional Shoreline, 5551 Giant Highway, Richmond Meet the scientists who are working to restore native oyster populations around the Bay. Help them measure their success at Point Pinole. No previous experience required.
Great educational experience. Ideal for teens and adult volunteers. Great service learning project for local students!

Volunteer to Help plant and care for Wildcat Creek
Join us at our own fabulous North Richmond Shoreline. Enjoy 4 fun field trips to the North Richmond Shoreline at Wildcat Marsh, Wildcat Creek and Point Pinole Regional Park. Grow a Greener Community – Become a Master Composter The Master Composter Program provides training in composting, soil health, and Bay Friendly gardening techniques. Participants then train others through a compost community outreach project. Classes are Wednesday nights in Oakland, February through mid-May 2009, plus one Saturday fieldtrip. 2008 Bay Area Clean Energy Caucus November 13th, 6-9pm Freedom Hall at Glide Memorial Church 330 Ellis Street (at Taylor) As part of the Green Festival Solution Salon series, Bay Area local energy enthusiasts (also known as Locavolts) will convene to discuss what’s working in local campaigns for clean energy including Community Choice, Energy Efficiency, Solar Financing, and Green Jobs.This Caucus will be followed with a tour of Solar Richmond’s facility and live solar electric installation.
