Richmond, school district to break ground on Nystrom multipurpose room

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the school at 230 Harbour Way South. The project is part of the Nystrom United Revitalization Effort, a community effort to rebuild the area surrounding the school that includes renovating the historic Maritime Child Development Center, reconstructing the Nystrom Village public housing, renovating the school and a new Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and Park. The revitalization effort is a collaboration among the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the city of Richmond, community organizations and residents. Katherine Tam covers Richmond.
