Richmond Food Scrap Collection Program: Q&A Sessions and Free Food Scrap Pails

Residential Food Scrap Collection & Composting Program – Begins July 1st! Starting July 1st, Richmond residents can put food and food-soiled paper in the green cart along with yard trimmings. These items will be taken to a compost facility instead of to a landfill, reducing waste and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. As a resident, you may also be able to save on your garbage bill by participating in the program!

Wednesday, July 7th, 5:30-6:30 PM Community Services Building 440 Civic Center Plaza Multi-Purpose Room (located in basement)

Tuesday, July 20th, 5:30-6:30 PM City Hall 450 Civic Center Plaza Richmond Room (First Floor)

Kitchen Food Scrap Pails Use a food scrap pail to collect food scraps in the kitchen, then empty contents into the green cart for collection. Available while supplies last! Pick one up at a one of the Q&A Sessions or at a Distribution Event. Remember to bring proof of residence.
