The following is a letter to the editor of the Contra Costa Times from mayor McLaughlin:

Regarding the Oct. 5 article on Richmond’s City Manager, I want to state clearly that I am an enthusiastic supporter of Bill Lindsay and think he is doing an outstanding job as City Manager of Richmond. The only reason I declined to comment for the article is that when the press call came I understood it to be about the details of his contract. Since the specific terms of his contract are currently being discussed in closed session, I am not able to comment on that. I do, however, most definitely want Mr. Lindsay to stay. He is playing a major role in moving Richmond in a positive direction.
