In addition the traditional location on the western section of the Richmond Greenway at 6th Street, tree planting will take place on the new eastern section. See below:
Martin Luther King National Day of Service “Richmond the Beloved Community”
Monday, January 18, 2009 10-2pm
On this day we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by coming together to improve the outdoor environment on the Richmond Greenway, so that our beloved community here in Richmond can realize Dr. King’s vision where all people share in the wealth of the earth.
What: Planting of Oaks and Buckeye trees Where: On the Greenway between 37th and 42nd St. When : Meet at 10 am at 39th and Ohio
Dress in your work clothes and bring gloves please! Heavy rain cancels, drizzle does not
Residents of Pullman and Park Plaza neighborhoods living along the Greenway are especially invited to come out and give input about the placement of trees near their homes, and have a hand in planting them if they like.
Trees, shovels, and other equipment will be provided by the City of Richmond and City parks staff will be on hand to train and assist volunteers
