KPIX PSA’s and Clips About Richmond Nurseries
May 2, 2008

National Park Service Chief of Interpretation Naomi L. Torres alerted me that KPIX has produced a series of special segments celebrating Asian American history for the Month of May. Included in the series are short clips with Wendy Tokuda about the Nurseries in Richmond, and interviews with Tom Oishi and Historian Donna Graves. Since June 1977, a May celebration has recognized the extensive contributions that Asian and Pacific Americans have made to American history. The observation of Asian Pacific heritage became a month-long holiday in May 1990. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States in May 1843.
