I want to invite you to consider serving as a volunteer in 2011 to help preserve and maintain Richmond’s oldest structure, East Brother Lighthouse. At a minimum, we have one volunteer service day each month, usually the second Saturday. In addition there are ongoing projects that require volunteers whenever they are available. We call our volunteers “wickies,” which is a nickname for old time lighthouse keepers who, among other things, had to keep the wick of the oil lamp trimmed.
We always have project that anybody can work on, but we are especially looking for people with special skills in:
Painting Carpentry Engine mechanics Boat operation
There are also needs for people to help out with:
Publicity, newsletter and marketing Gift shop management Grant writing
Below is your invitation to the December “Wickie Day” on December 11. If you want to add your name to our list of potential volunteers, see register to be a volunteer. For more information about East Brother, see www.ebls.org.
