Pursuant to information I received from what I believe to be credible sources, I asked Contra Costa Times Editor John Armstrong to comment on whether or not “further downsizing is taking place in staff covering West County and Richmond.” Armstrong responded as follows: “As I have stated previously, we don”t respond to rumors. Peter [Felsenfeld] is leaving the West County office to cover Contra Costa County government, a promotion to a regional beat reflecting Peter”s excellent work in Richmond. A successor to Peter has been named, meaning there will be no loss of coverage of the City of Richmond.”
