The November 20, 2012, Richmond City Council Agenda/Packet is on the web. The link is http://sireweb.ci.richmond.ca.us/sirepub/mtgviewer.aspx?meetid=419&doctype=AGENDA.
Items that are likely to attract discussion and controversy include:
J-1: APPROVE a resolution to provide for public safety in the Chevron Refinery rebuilding subsequent to the August 6, 2012, refinery fire – Mayor McLaughlin (620-6503). K-1: RECEIVE a report from staff on the Marin Clean Energy Community Choice Aggregation Program regarding the source of energy and the “opt out” process for Richmond consumers – Councilmember Boozé (620-6593). (Continued from the November 13, 2012, City Council Meeting). Even though Richmond’s membership in the MEA is a done deal and provides an option for utility users to purchase electricity from either PG&E or higher percentage renewable electricity for MEA, both Booze and Bates continue to rty and undermine it at every opportunity. K-2: DIRECT the city attorney to draft an ordinance to expand the “Ban the Box” policy to include contractors and vendors conducting business with the City of Richmond – Councilmember Beckles (620-6568). This would extend to any vendor or contractor doing business with the City a ban on asking any employment applicant questions about previous criminal convictions.
