As predicted, the Chevron Energy and Hydrogen Renewal project is headed for the Richmond City Council. The only part of the project approved by the Planning Commission , which will consider the Conditional Use Permit tonight, is the EIR. The EIR was certified on June 5 with a ten-day appeal period.
According to a credible source, the certification was appealed by both Chevron and a collaboration of community-based organizations, including, Communities for a Better environment, West County Toxics Coalition, Richmond Greens, Richmond Progressive Alliance, APEN and Atchison Village Environmental Committee. Challenging the EIR certification is a prerequisite for a subsequent lawsuit.
