Introduction
I have been drawing all my life — part of the reason I chose to make a career
in architecture. I received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University
of Arkansas and Master of Architecture in Urban Design from UCLA before
eventually founding the architecture-engineering firm, Interactive Resources.
Obviously, I’ve spent a lot of my life drawing, but mostly in my architecture
practice for business.
I really enjoy sketching, mostly subjects with an architectural context. This
book is a compendium of more than100 sketches, most in black pen and ink,
starting with a trip to Greece in 1970 and continuing with the latest in Sierra
City, California in 2025. It typically takes me an hour or two to do a sketch. All
were made on site rather than from photos. I like to find a shady place to sit,
preferably with something to sit on, with a beer or glass of wine.
All of these sketches were drawn while I was on vacation somewhere, and they
help burn into my memory the details of the many places I have visited.
I hope you enjoy them.
