The next (inn)keepers of East Brother Light Station have been selected. Danielle La Vigne and Rachel (Rae) Colvin will take over April 1, 2025, and become the 34th keepers since 1874 and the 23rd since 1980. They are from Santa Barbara and currently live on a 70-foot sailing ship they have been restoring.

Danielle has a 100-ton Master’s License and has operated tour boats, managed bars, served as a chef and has construction and maintenance experience.

Rae has been a lifeguard, trail guide, homeless shelter volunteer, video production assistant, bartender, gardener, shop manager, security guard, logistical manager and construction contractor.

They will begin training on March 22 and take over the operation on April 1.
