Monday – Dec. 9
Dear Daddy and Mother –
Well it begins to look as if I’ll never get financially straight because my charges won’t come in until Jan. 1. Hereafter I’ll just pay cash & the 10% too.
But to date this is the way I see it –
Had a wonderful piece of luck today. The Mary McDonald (who I met at the luncheon) invited me to a dinner party for dec. 21 but I had this date with the little Heflebower girl for the Air Corps party. But she’s several years younger than I and plays with young 2nd Lts. So I was practically nutty to get out of that so I could accept Mary’s invite (she’ll have field artillery, too, instead of air corps). So after a big family discussion Aunt Susan called & got me out of the Air C. party & now I am to go to the other & spend the nite with Mary. I really think I like her crowd much better & while this may be my only chance of meeting them – I can meet the Air Corps later at the party Aunt Susan is giving for me & letting Helen Heffochasson do the inviting for.
So all’s clear on the western front at this point & I am very happy about the whole thing.
I can hardly wait to see what you’re sending for Christmas!! They will certainly be a wonderful, wonderful present.
Had a great deal of excitement today when Johnny the Filipino (refer to next letter) arrived with bag and box all ready to move in. But, having decided at 4 o’clock this morning, that he was absolutely insane (Johnny, I mean) Uncle Ed told A. Susan to lock the doors & when he came tell him we’d decided not to take him. Well! We did as instructed. And Johnny! Well, Johnny foamed at the mouth, called us names, wept, went absolutely crazy as he shouted & raved going from door to door, trying to pound them to pieces trying to get in and talk to us. So finally we called the police dept. & they came 7 solaced hem & took poor Johnny away. Just the same, I’d still hate to meet him on a dark night.
Not much else to report –
Hope you all have a grand Christmas –
Write & tell me all about it –
Love
Cecilia
