| Beginning on November 1, which is the date of my mother’s first letter from her Hawaii trip 84 years ago, I am serializing day by day, the book, Cecilia King’s Extraordinary Senior Trip, which you can obtain from Amazon in either Kindle or paperback.
I hope you enjoy the upcoming nine-months in Hawaii 1940-41. You can order the entire book from Amazon in either paperback or Kindle format, click here.
Honolulu, Monday, December 30, 1940
Not much excitement today. Right now my eyes and nose are practically floating from a terrific attack of hay fever – from the ginger blossoms. A. Susan brought me from the party last night.
Started out to get the bus this P.M. & bumped right into the girls next door – Jane Ives (father is a Lt. Com in navy) so we introduced ourselves. She is going to the U. of Haw. – very attractive girl.
I took my “bargain” pearl bag downtown to have the chain handle mended -- & found that it was absolutely rotten – so rather than pay for a new chain, I’ll just let the little links dangle & be broken. I feel slightly “fluish” -- think I'd better hop in bed to avoid being ill tomorrow & missing the New Years frolic ---
End 1940
Signed, sealed & being delivered,
Love, Cecilia
