Tuesday – Dec. 10
Dear Daddy & Mother,
Just came in from a rather exciting evening – A. Susan is in bed with her dentistry reactions so U. Ed and I started to Kau Kau Korner for some supper. Halfway – had a flat & had left key to spare at home so he had to walk to station to get garage man then wait for tire to be fixed. After that – having only $1.00 left for two suppers we decided to get a milk shake for appetizer then come home to eat dinner later. Got almost there & decided to eat the whole doing at home so turned around & started back. Got to site of puncture & a police car bore down ordering us to stop == “driving on left side of road (very usual, too) and only one light.” So after hearing our tale of woe & inquiring as to my name, age, time of arrival, impression of Honolulu & length of visit he bade us a hearty farewell – So home to Spam & crackers. And an early to bed because I rise at 6 in the morning to finally (I hope) take that driver’s test. They are so busy that U. Rd had to use all his Army scheming power to get me in at all.
Got a dinner invitation for Jan 8th from the Col. Bernheimes (dentist) – and a pending “canoeing” date with the Col. Lamberts (also dentists).
Have decided to do my own hair & nails except once a month – when I pick out an extra special one party date & then have Marcel fix me up “ver’ pretty – ah, yeez, ver’ pretty.” This months goes to the McDonald party on the 21st.

I am sending you a sample of the kind of Christmas wrapping paper that Santa uses is Honolulu – Hibiscus (state flower), tropical fishes, pineapple, etc.
Its been a wonderful “breezy day & I’m feeling better than I have in months & have gained 6 pounds. But having had breathing & draining troubles – I had an examination today & he (Capt. Burns) sent me to have x-rays – so Friday I’m to go back. So if I can just get my nose happy again – I’ll be sitting on top of the world.
So ends another perfect day – and another “Aloha” to you.
