| The West County Democratic Club claims to represent West County Democrats, but it has been hijacked by the Democratic Socialist RPA members who have installed Jamin Pursell as president and chief censor. Pursell runs the club like a Putin dictatorship. Last month, by a legal vote, club members rejected the endorsement of City Council candidates Jimenez, Wilson and Willis, but Pursell would not accept the decision.
The club Facebook page actually has several moderators, including Maria Alegria, Abel Pintel, Anthony Caro, Cesar Zepeda and Harry Weiner, but they apparently defer to Pursell to run the show unrestricted.
Mose recently Pursell suspended me from posting anything on the West County Democratic Club Facebook page, not because I had posted anything on the page the offended anyone, but according to him, because I posted questions on other Facebook pages on subjects that offended RPA members and their supporters. More specifically, Pursell did not like me asking politicians what their plan was for saving Winehaven. I have asked all the Richmond City Council members, John Gioia, Elizabeth Echols, and Nancy Skinner and none has responded. I don’t know whether this means they don’t have a plan or they don’t want to tell me what their plan is.
Pursell considers me asking about Winehaven as, “spamming, bullying, and harassment,” even if it is done on Facebook pages other than the page he moderates.
The RPA embracing of censorship as a political tool is well established. In my last two years as mayor, the RPA City Council members passed two resolutions condemning me, one resolution censoring me, and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money unsuccessfully suing me, all because they did not like what I had to say. Make no mistake, these are bad people.
