Yesterday, March 27, 2023, the Brickyard Cove Alliance for Responsible Development (BCARD) filed an appeal to the City Council on the PG&E site project approval by the Planning Commission. It included many of the issues I recited in the March 24, 2023, E-FORUM, City Planning Functions Pretty Much Useless Anymore.
The appeal was triggered by city staff cutting corners, such as not giving the required 10 day notice and staff caving in to threats of litigation by the developer. BCARD believes there has been a misinterpretation of the Density Bonus Law and that CEQA is being treated as not applicable to this project. The community says theye are fighting back to ensure a responsible development that provides housing for Richmond and follows both State and Municipal codes.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, BCARD says they will proceed with a CEQA lawsuit. |
