After two outstanding stints as keepers for East Brother Lighthouse, Bryan and Stephanie Wesolek are moving on.

The Board of Directors of East Brother light Station, Inc. a 501(c)c nonprofit, began our new keeper search back in December 2022, and the selected couple, Darrell “Dre” and Charity Elmore will take over East Brother next week.

Dre has most recently been an Erie Canal dockmaster and first mate/auxiliary captain of the Colonial Belle tour boat. He is known for being especially good at engaging guests, putting them at ease, and setting the tone for them to relax and enjoy themselves. His hospitality duties on the Colonial Belle included overseeing dining services for lunch, dinner, and special occasion cruises and managing bar services for all cruises. In his role as dockmaster, He was an ambassador for the Village of Fairport, welcoming boaters, assisting them in docking their vessels safely, pointing out nearby places of interest; and recommending local restaurants and bars. As an amateur chef, Dre was a member of the first round winning team in the New York Wine & Culinary Center’s inaugural "Slice, Dice & Spice" chef challenge. He is certificated by SeaTech Marine Training, inc., and has a Merchant Marine Credential (100-Ton) issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Charity has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Boston University College of engineering with an 18-year career as a project manager in the technology sector.
