The City Manager has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy, which begins today. A copy of the policy is attached.
The rise in COVID-19 cases, the availability of hospital and ICU beds, the transmission rates and the related exigent public health concerns necessitates that the City takes action to protect our personnel. The policy provides that City employees, interns and volunteers (includes boards and commissions members once on-site meetings resume), along with City contractors who regularly perform services for the City onsite and interact with other individuals in person as part of their services must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide the City proof of the vaccination. This policy is required to protect our staff and the public.
To protect individuals’ medical privacy, Risk Management (Human Resources) will collect the vaccination proof. City personnel who wish to request an exemption due to medical and/or religious reasons can contact Risk Management for an exemption request form.
Please see the attached policy for the milestone dates on when proof of partial or full vaccination is required, or the date that an exemption requests are to be approved.
The City is presently working with the various employee unions and associations on implementation aspects of this policy.
