| Next Friday, July 16th, I will be hosting a grand re-opening of the Richmond Transit Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in front of 1600 Nevin Ave. We invite you to join us.
Although the Richmond Transit Center never ceased operation during COVID-19, record –low ridership on BART, Amtrak, and AC Transit significantly slowed down a site that used to be the busiest place in Richmond (over 8,000 users per day). As our state and region continue easing shelter-in-place restrictions, the grand re-opening celebration is intended to symbolize a return to our focus on making the Transit Center a catalyst of activity, community gathering, and economic vitality for the downtown area.
Next Friday’s event will feature resources from transit agencies, community organizations, and small businesses. The event will also feature a vaccine station run by Contra Costa Health Services where the J&J vaccine will be offered. Anyone who gets vaccinated at the event will be eligible for special prizes that we will provide, and we will promote the prizes already announced by Governor Newsom several weeks ago. The event will also feature games, refreshments, and more.
Feel free to contact the Mayor’s Office if you have any questions. |
