In the last week, half of the Richmond City Attorney’s Office staff has retired or taken jobs elsewhere.

Assistant City Attorney Carlos Privat retired at the end of 2020.

Over the weekend, Senior Assistant City Attorney Everett Jenkins announced that, after more than three decades of service to Richmond, he will retire this Friday, January 15.  Also over the weekend, Senior Assistant City Attorney (and former Interim City Attorney) Rachel Sommovilla announced that she has accepted a promotional opportunity as an Assistant County Counsel with Alameda County, where she will manage a division of the County Counsel’s Office. Sommovilla will leave January 27.
