Several people have asked why BNSF wants to run diesel trains through Miller Knox.
- BNSF doesn’t want to give up any rights to their existing trackage, regardless of condition or prior agreements or settlements with the East Bay Regional Park District. The District’s new Land Use Plan would use the track right of way for a trail, and BNSF doesn’t want to relinquish it.
- BNSF has expressed in some venues that they need the extra track for switching in their Richmond Yard because of increased need to move cars by rail being brought in through the Port and directly to their yard. The Richmond Port Director knows nothing about this.
