We are launching a new career networking opportunity for Richmond Promise Scholars and we are seeking volunteers who would be willing and interested ot share their career path with a Scholar over coffee or lunch.
As we talk with our growing number of over 1000 Scholars at 90 colleges and universities across the country, one thing that we consistently hear is a desire to build a professional network and sharpen their interview/job seeking skills prior to college graduation. As we talk with our growing number of over 1000 Scholars at 90 colleges and universities across the country, one thing that we consistently hear is a desire to build a professional network and sharpen their interview/job seeking skills prior to college graduation.
The Richmond Promise invites you to become a part of our new career-exploration program, Career Coffee Chats! This program connects Richmond Promise Scholars and alumni to professionals in their prospective fields to conduct informational interviews in order to gain industry knowledge, build a professional network, and discover potential internship and employment opportunities. In order to formally launch the program in December, our goal is to recruit at least 50 professionals who are interested in becoming available for informational interviews.
What is the time commitment? There is no long-term commitment and individuals choose their own availability. Chats are recommended to last an hour.
How do I apply? The application can be found at bit.ly/RPcoffee. Feel free to share company-wide and with your networks!
How does it work? After you apply, we will reach out to you with next steps. You will agree to be listed anonymously on the Richmond Promise career hub (major, field, job title), and your availability. If a Scholar is interested in connecting, we will make a match over email and let you take it from there.
Please reach out to Briana Quarles, our mentorship manager at bquarles@richmondpromise.org directly with any questions or for further information.
Thank you for your support in creating career pathways for our Scholars! We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Jessie and the Richmond Promise Team
