Some items of particular interest on the Agenda:

• H-17: Final Canvass of Votes for the November 18 election
• I-1: . ADOPT a resolution honoring Kishana Harley and calling on the State Legislature to introduce legislation to value human life and to condemn racial injustice and police brutality - Councilmember Jovanka Beckles (620-6568). This resolution appears to be entirely inappropriate, a gratuitous parting shot from Beckles against police in general. Kishana Harley was murdered in Richmond earlier this year, and the alleged killer, a 17-year old male is in custody, thanks to successful police work. According to a July 25, 2018 article in the Richmond Standard, Harley and Pedie Perez’ mother, Patricia, together launched a Change.org petition last year to promote legislation aiming to reduce unjust police killings. The proposed resolution is modeled after the Change.org petition.
• L-3: An update on the North Richmond Annexation process.
• L-7: An ordinance intended to ultimately put Levin Terminal out of the coal and petcoke shipping business (DIRECT staff to review a draft ordinance for legality and language and craft an ordinance for a first reading that is as strong or stronger in its ability to protect our community from coal and petroleum coke - Councilmember Eduardo Martinez (620-6593))
