  City Manager Bill Lindsay on Cities of Service in Richmond

Mayor and Members of the Council:

Cities of Service is a national nonprofit organization that helps communities engage their citizens to build stronger cities and solve public problems.  Using their citizen engagement model, Cities of Service coalition cities partner with local residents and community organizations to identify priority challenges that can be addressed, in part, with help from citizens.  The goal is for city leaders and citizens come together to take action on challenges that impact the city at large. Their combined efforts generate stronger results and build trust between citizens and city leadership, which then sustains and encourages future engagement.

Richmond has been partnering with Cities of Service since 2012, with staff leadership from Community Services Director Rochelle Monk.  I would encourage you to look at the Cities of Service website, and the section on work in Richmond, by using the following link:
