Rosie Rally and Home Front Festival

(RICHMOND, Calif.) –The National Park Service, in partnership with the Rosie the Riveter Trust and City of Richmond, will be hosting the 3rd annual Rosie Rally in conjunction with the 11th annual Home Front Festival on Saturday, August 12th at 10:00am. The Rosie Rally, in the Craneway Pavilion, will celebrate the role of women who rallied to support the country through work on the home front during World War II. A Samba procession will lead Rally participants to the Festival at Lucretia Edwards Shoreline Park at 11:30am. The Festival will continue until 4:00pm with live music, food vendors, booths and activities for all ages. The USS Potomac will be docked at Marina Bay marina and open for free tours starting at 11:30am.

We hope to break our existing Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Rosie the Riveter since World War II, which was set in Richmond in 2016 with 2,229 people. Many original Rosies will be there to participate and cheer on the younger generations. Please visit www.rosietheriveter.org/rosierally2017 for more details about these free events.

The SS Red Oak Victory, owned by the Richmond Museum Association, will be holding a complementary event with WWII reenactors, food, music, and ship tours from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Please visit http://www.redoak.victory.us for more details.
