11 Municipalities Opt Up to MCE’s 100% Renewable Energy Service (Press Release)
July 24, 2017

See Communities Lead on Greenhouse Gas Reduction, announcing an incredible wave of momentum for MCE’s Deep Green 100% renewable energy service. In the past couple of months, 9 cities and towns, including Richmond, and 2 counties have decided to enroll their municipal accounts in Deep Green, thanks to significant leadership and support from independent advocates and activists of all ages throughout MCE's service area.

In total, more than half of all MCE member communities have opted up to Deep Green. Not only does this contribute more renewable energy to California’s electrical grid, but MCE estimates that Deep Green electricity consumption will increase by 66% in 2017, due in large part to recent municipal adoption. In 2018, MCE expects to reach its goal of having Deep Green account for 5% of its total electricity load, seven years ahead of its original 2025 target.
