From Americana to Zydeco:
Point Richmond Music’s
16th Annual Summer Concert Season
Kicks Off Friday, 6/9
Mark your calendars for the kick off of Point Richmond Music's 16th annual FREE summer concert season! On Friday, June 9th, the summer-long street series begins with two great musical acts with Richmond roots:
Tia Carroll & Her Awesome Blues Band (Blues) and
Andre Thierry (Zydeco/Accordion Soul). Concerts are held at the corner of
Park Place and Washington Avenue in downtown Point Richmond. Our full 2017 line-up is available at
www.pointrichmondmusic.org.
Named
Best Outdoor Music Series and an "
Absolute Must Do in the East Bay this Summer" by the East Bay Express, the grassroots series has become a favorite Bay Area summer tradition. Concerts feature arts and crafts booths, face-painting for children, opportunity drawings, and dancing in the streets.
Local restaurants offer a wide array of cuisines, and a rotating selection of food trucks will pull up to each concert. Pair fine food with beverages served in reusable and biodegradable cups from PRM’s no host bar, featuring Richmond-made craft beer from sponsors-in-kind East Brother Beer Co. and Benoit Casper Brewing, with proceeds directly supporting the music series.

Tia Carroll & Her Awesome Blues Band (Blues)

Famed Biscuits and Blues Club says: "Over the last ten years, Carroll has quietly accumulated one of the most impressive entertainment resumes in the Bay Area and has become one of the most sought-after female singers on the West Coast. Carroll has headlined venues and festivals all over the world with her band and has shared stages with legends Ray Charles, Jimmy McCracklin and Sugar Pie DeSanto. She’s earned a reputation for her sizzling stage show, and always generates a buzz whenever she brings her band to town."
6:45 - 8:00 PM –
Andre Thierry (Zydeco)

Andre is a virtuoso on all the accordion types, single row, double row, triple row and piano key. He effortlessly moves across types to deliver an energetic two-step, hard-driving blues or a blend that is his own alternative Creole sound. Andre also displays talent on bass, guitar and keys, and, thanks to his parents and grandparents, he sings traditional songs in original Creole French. There is widespread agreement that Andre Thierry is an exceptional multi-dimensional musician who has a finely-honed ability to merge his Accordion Soul sounds with blues, r&b, jazz, latin and rock. His musical mastery enables him to create a unique sound for his and future generations while staying true to the past.
About Point Richmond Music:
Point Richmond Music (PRM) is a 501c3 nonprofit public benefit organization that provides free outdoor summer concerts as a way to build community through the unifying language of music. PRM concerts provide a gathering place for people of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life by featuring musical talent from Richmond, the Bay Area and beyond. In addition to producing a free summer concert series, the group is proud to help support year-round music through its sponsorship of the Point Richmond Acoustic and Point Richmond Jazz series, which run October through May at the First United Methodist Church, and to foster the development of the next generation of musicians through contributions to Washington Elementary School’s music program. Sixteen years of this collaborative effort have relied on donations of time and money from volunteers and local businesses and organizations.
