The pipe leaks in the crawl space at Salute, which have been referenced by the owner, Jacqueline Poe, as what precipitated the termination notice, have been repaired, so that is no longer an issue.
Richmond attorney Joshua Genser is serving as Menbe’s pro-bono attorney and is in contact with Jacqueline Poe’s attorney to discuss recession of the termination notice and a new lease with terms that are fair to both parties.
A fund is being set up to help pay for the repair costs, and information on how you can contribute will be available soon. You may recall that Salute has been on a month-to-month rental for the past seven years, an arrangement that does not encourage or motivate a tenant to pay for long term improvements to the premises. But just to remove that issue as an impediment, the repairs have been made, and we will ask generous friends of Menbe to help pay for them.
