Kenya B. Trio & Patrón Latin Rhythms:
The Point is Music on Friday, 8/12! 

Point Richmond Music's 15th annual free summer concert series continues on Friday, August 12th with the Kenya B. Trio from 5:30 to 6:30pm and Patrón Latin Rhythms from 6:45 to 8:00pm! In addition to fantastic live music, the concert will feature arts and crafts booths, face-painting and arts activities for kids, opportunity drawings, and dancing in the streets. PRM’s outdoor concert venue is located at the corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue in historic downtown Point Richmond. Our 2016 line-up is available at www.pointrichmondmusic.org. 

Named Best Outdoor Music Series in 2014 and as an "Absolute Must Do in the East Bay this Summer" by the East Bay Express, the grassroots series has become a Bay Area favorite, with every concert drawing hundreds of people to Point Richmond. Local restaurants offer a wide array of cuisines, and, new this year, one or two food trucks will set up shop at each concert. Concert-goers can pair food with beverages from Point Richmond Music's no host bar, with proceeds directly supporting the music series. And we're going green this year, serving drinks in reusable and biodegradable cups. If you purchased a reusable cup at a previous concert, don't forget to bring it with you!

Kenya (Eric V.) Baker was lead guitarist for Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Joss Stone from 2006 to 2010, touring internationally. Kenya's band, the Kenya B Trio, plays blues, jazz, funk, soul and R&B. Their original grooves feature shredding guitar solos, funky bass lines and old skool drumbeats. Whether it's blues, mellow jazz, Memphis soul from the famous Stax music label, or classic funk, Kenya's arrangements are a fresh take on artists including Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, BB King, Muddy Waters, Bill Withers, Isley Brothers, Parliament and more.

Patrón Latin Rhythms

Patrón Latin Rhythms is a collaboration of seasoned musicians from diverse backgrounds who come together to play a wide range of Latin Music including Latin Jazz, Latin Rock, Mambo, and even Old Skool R& B/Latin Funk! Patrón is blessed in having members that have previously worked with Malo, Sapo, Lava, La Ventana, Colores, and The Lowdown. Patrón's goal is simple, to inspire the dancing spirt in everyone with driving percussion rhythms, hair raising guitar licks, and a horn section that is reminiscent of Tower of Power.

9/23: Matt Jaffee & the Distractions

Matt Jaffee is a 21 year old singer/songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area. With influences ranging from The Clash, Elvis Costello, and Talking Heads to Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash, Matt performs regularly throughout the Bay Area, SoCal and NYC.

9/9: Michael Van & the Movers

Intoxicating, whiskey laden, original, alternative country music band. Michael Van comes from Georgia and dishes up the twang with a bit of deep introspection, exploring the lines between love and fear, self and no self, and the plain truth of reality.  

9/23: Extra Large

Extra Large is the perfect soundtrack for  ‘throw your hands in the air’ fun. Voted Best Local Band in Santa Cruz County nine times running, Extra Large splices together funk gyrations, Latin spice, fun-in-the-sun reggae, and classic California rock vigor. This veteran six-piece ensemble has become a California coast staple adept at heating up dance floors, concert stages, and festivals.
