East Brother (Wickie) Volunteer Day Saturday, November 14
November 7, 2015

For over 35 years, dedicated individuals, including many Richmond residents, have been volunteering, once a month, to maintain one of Richmond’s best known landmarks, East Brother Light Station, operated by the non-profit East Brother Light Station Inc., under license by the U.S. Coast Guard.

We meet the second Saturday of each month to paint, clean fix and preserve the historic East Brother Lighthouse that has guarded the straits between San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay for more than 140 years.

We rendezvous at Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor,  Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor 1900 Stenmark Drive (formerly Western Drive)  Richmond, CA 94801, at 9:15 AM where we are transported by boat to this magical island and return at 4:00 PM, tired but fulfilled. Lunch is served by innkeepers Bryan and Stephanie outside with an unsurpassed view of San Francisco Bay.

East Brother Light Station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a California State Historic Landmark. The bed and breakfast inn provides a cash flow that pays for materials to maintain the facilities, but the labor is all volunteer.

Please consider joining us. You can register to get on the invitation list at http://www.ebls.org/volunteering.html, but if you want to join us on our next Volunteer “Wickie Day” on November 14 , just call 707-689-3189.
