Federal District Court Awards City of Richmond Nearly $2 Million in Fees for Point Molate Litigation
August 18, 2015

Federal District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez-Rogers’ issued an order this morning granting the City of Richmond nearly two million dollars ($1,927,317.50) in attorney’s fees against Upstream Point Molate and the Tribe pursuant to the attorney’s fees clause in the Land Development Agreement. The Court rejected virtually all of the plaintiffs’ arguments against the fee award, characterizing parts of the opposition as ‘disingenuous.’ The Court also noted the plaintiffs’ ‘contentiousness’ as driving up the City’s fees.

It is expected that the plaintiffs will appeal this fee award.
