Bay Area Blues Favorites HowellDevine and Big Cat Tolefree to Bring Dancing to the Streets of Downtown Point Richmond
(Point Richmond, CA-June 16, 2015)-Following a crowd-pleasing kick-off to its Summer Concert Series earlier this month, Point Richmond Music (PRM)continues its 2015 season on Friday, July 10th with a celebration of the blues. The concert features blues acts HowellDevine and Big Cat Tolefree,as well as a prize drawing, face-painting for children and dancing in the street. Admission is free. PRM's outdoor concert venue is located at the corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue in historic downtown Point Richmond.
Oakland-based blues trio HowellDevine opens the show at 5:30 pm. Charlie Musselwhite says: "HowellDevine plays The Music with the original feel, intent and spirit, and you can tell they love the music while delivering some real blues in their own way . . . it knocks me out to hear a group playing such good quality blues today."
At 6:45 pm, Big Cat Tolefree takes the stage. From the inner-city limits of Oakland, Big Catand his Hipnotic Band have transformed the West Coast blues and soul sound with their trend-setting music and vocal style. A 3rd generation Russell City blues singer, Big Cat has opened for The Temptations, BB King and Jimmy McCracklin.
PRM is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group that celebrates diversity and promotes the arts and community through the universal language of music. The grassroots PRM series brings a wide range of top-notch musicians to the East Bay neighborhood of Point Richmond as a free cultural offering to the community. Concerts are held on the second Friday of each month, June through September, from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm. The 2015 season will include a final concert on Friday, September 25th to close the season.
