In a significant federal court victory today for the City of Richmond and the Richmond Police Department, a federal jury unanimously voted in favor of Defendant Richmond Police Officer Kristopher Tong in an “excessive force” case brought by John Burris’s office. Andre Little sued Officer Tong for tasing him after Mr. Little persistently interfered with an active police investigation, notwithstanding repeated commands to step away. Officer Tong was in compliance with law and policy when he used reasonable force to arrest Mr. Little. The jury agreed after a very short deliberation.
