Yesterday, Assembly Member Tony Thurman convened a meeting in Richmond of all mayors, city managers and police chiefs in AB District 15, from Oakland to Hercules, to discuss how law enforcement can do their jobs and keep cities safe while minimizing use of deadly force. As attendees introduced themselves, their years of public service were tallied and added up to a total nearly 900 years.
The meeting was held in the Richmond Memorial Auditorium, and as mayor, I welcomed the group to Richmond.
Lots of good ideas were discussed, and a lot of them came down to training and the resources to pay for it.
A summary will be available at a later date.
