Tom Butt for Mayor 2014 Announces Campaign Coordinator
August 13, 2014

Tom Butt for Mayor

The Tom Butt for Mayor 2014 Committee hired Alex Knox today as campaign coordinator. Alex Knox is a lifelong Richmond resident who earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Guilford College in North Carolina, where he was an active member of a student run cooperative and held an executive post in the student government’s steering committee. He volunteered with President Obama’s campaign in 2008 and joined local efforts to turn the state blue in a dramatic victory for change.  He worked with our Congressman George Miller at his D.C. office in the summer of 2009 where he helped facilitate constituent input during deliberations on the ACES (Cap and Trade) bill and the passage of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

He is excited by the progress the city has made over his lifetime, and is committed to working towards an ever-brighter future for all of Richmond’s residents. Since returning home he managed an environmentally sustainable residential demolition in Richmond and engaged with the budding community of green business entrepreneurs in the area.  He believes there is a unique potential for the city to not only achieve visible poverty reduction and inclusive growth, but to lead the greater community in social and environmental justice.  You can find him biking on the Greenway, racing sailboats on the bay and volunteering with his favorite community groups throughout the city.

Alex just sailed from Hawaii, returning two days ago after delivering a boat back from the recent Pacific Cup event.

Alex can be reached at 510/231-7514 (direct line), or cell 510/407-1926, or email alex.knox@intres.com.
