Richmond Stands Out at New Partners for Smart Growth Conference in Denver
February 16, 2014

I spent the last few days at the Local Government Commission New Partners for Smart Growth Conference in Denver.

I moderated a session entitled “Building Health Equity into All Polices,” that featured “Richmond’s Health in All Polices” program that featured Diane Aranda of The California Endowment, Shasa Curl of the Richmond City Manager’s Office, Jonathan Malagon, a UC Berkeley grad student who is assisting Richmond and Will Dominie of Contra Costa Health Services.
The session was standing room only and was extremely well received. I got a lot of compliments on and questions about what Richmond is doing.

Later, I attended another session on Y-Plan, in which two Richmond High students, Melissa and Jose, were featured. This was also a big hit.

Believe me, the 1,200 plus people who attended this conference know and respect Richmond, California, and what we are doing here.
