Point Richmond Acoustic Presents Houston & Jones at with special guest Stevie Coyle

(Point Richmond, CA, January 2, 2014) — Point Richmond Acoustic presents the duo Glenn Houston and Travis Jones, Friday, January 10 at 8:00 pm with special guest Stevie Coyle. The series is sponsored by Point Richmond Music and held at the First Methodist Church of Point Richmond, held at 201 Martina Avenue. Tickets are $18 at the door, $15, for students and seniors.

Well-known to Bay Area music fans, Houston & Jones are synonymous with fine songwriting, great singing and consummate musicianship. The duo blends folk, rock, country and blues into an exciting mix that makes them one of the most sought after Americana artists.

In the year 2000, Glenn Houston and Travis Jones began performing as a duet, honing their chops and developing their repertoire as part of their plan to put together a new band. With the addition of bass and drums in 2001, that band was launched as Houston Jones.

In the past decade plus, the high octane Americana roots powerhouse band has released six CDs and has garnered international attention with airplay on over 70 radio stations. Rave reviews include that of the San Francisco Chronicle's David Wiegand, who termed the band "a confluence of sublime talent."
For this show, Houston and Jones get back to a more intimate sound, demonstrating that whether as a duo, or part of the well-oiled 5-piece band, Travis and Glen are truly at the heart of the Houston Jones sound.

To ice the musical cake, ace guitarist/raconteur Stevie Coyle opens the show. Coyle, ex of the Waybacks, is a veteran performer known for his deft guitar arrangements and witty stage presentation. In addition, Stevie is one of the Bay Area’s most sought after guitar instructors, teaching out of his own high-end guitar boutique, Mighty Fine Guitars, in Lafayette.

The Pt. Richmond First Methodist Church is an intimate place for concerts, and music is an important part of its program. Built more than 100 years ago, the octagonal shaped sanctuary accentuates the up close and personal nature of the music. Pt. Richmond is a small enclave right off 580 ten minutes north of Berkeley and 10 minutes south of San Rafael.

The Point Richmond Acoustic Music series is completely non-religious and people of all faiths as well as no faith are welcome. It’s a friendly no-pressure environment - It’s all about the music here.

Point Richmond Acoustic is co-sponsored by Point Richmond Music, Folk Unlimited and the First Methodist Church. Visit www.pointacoustic.org for more info or contact Pt Richmond Acoustic at folkunlimited@att.net.

Don’t miss this exciting evening of consummate musicianship!
