Richmond organizations seek support for We Give 2013 donation event

RICHMOND -- More than 90 community nonprofit organizations are participating in We Give 2013, a concentrated 24-hour donation drive being held from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Sept. 19 by the Richmond Community Foundation.
Organizations such as the Richmond Museum of History, Richmond Art Center, National Art Center, Richmond Main Street, Contra Costa Chorale and Richmond PAL are reaching out to their supporters to publicize and gain support for the event. The day coincides with the Week of Caring volunteer partnership between United Way of the Bay Area and Volunteer Center of the East Bay.
"We Give 2013 makes charitable giving fun, easy and accessible. It allows anyone to become a philanthropist," said Joan Davis, President and CEO of the Richmond Community Foundation. "We know that our community will step up to support the important work of nonprofits serving our community."
Donations can be made online at www.WeGive2Richmond.org, which will have a leader board showing donation progress for participating organizations.
