Point Richmond Music Presents
The Rusty String Express & Jenny Kerr
on Friday, 8/9
Point Richmond Music (PRM) continues its 2013 season on Friday, August 9th with two Bay Area favorites, The Rusty String Express and Jenny Kerr. Bluegrass and Americana have been used to describe the bands, respectively, but these terms only scratch the surface. In addition to great genre-defying music, the concert features a raffle, face-painting for children and dancing in the street. Admission is free. PRM’s outdoor concert venue is located Park Place and Washington Avenue in historic downtown Point Richmond. For the complete 2013 line-up, please visit www.pointrichmondmusic.com
Local restaurants offer a wide array of cuisine, and Point Richmond Music's no-host bar will be open for business!
PRM is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group that celebrates diversity and promotes the arts and community through the universal language of music.
Friday, August 9
5:30 PM-6:30 PM
The Rusty String Express (Bluegrass) www.therustystringexpress.com
The Rusty String Express (RSE) is a rousing and creative acoustic quartet comprised of Aaron Balano on dobro, Alison Bailey Streich on violin, Greg Dunn on bass and Morgan Cochneuer on guitar. The RSE celebrates string band traditions of the past while stretching into the unknown, creating original music with unique and familiar flavors.
6:45 PM-7:45 PM –
Jenny Kerr (Americana) www.jennykerr.com
San Francisco native Jenny Kerr is a multi-instrumentalist (finger-style and slide guitar, claw hammer banjo, harmonica, piano) and a poetic and passionate songwriter known for foot-stomping live shows and a powerful, authentic voice. Jenny and her band of road-tested rogues deliver a seasoned yet spirited sound with forays into swamp rock, straight-up soul, backwater honky tonk, old-time blues and finely-hewn ballads.
About Point Richmond Music:
The all-volunteer PRM committee shares a vision of celebrating diversity and promoting the arts and community through the universal language of music. PRM concerts offer a gathering place for people of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life, who come together to enjoy musical talent of many genres from Richmond, the Bay Area and beyond. In addition to producing its free summer concert series, the group is proud to help support year-round music in Point Richmond through its sponsorship of the Point Richmond Acoustic series and the Point Richmond Jazz series, which run October through May at the First United Methodist Church, and to foster the development of the next generation of musicians through contributions to Washington Elementary School’s music program. Twelve years of this collaborative effort have been made possible through donations of time and money from local businesses and volunteers. We are grateful to our 2013 sponsors: Chevron, the City of Richmond, Nutiva, Sims Metal Management, California Delicious, Richmond Convention & Visitors Bureau, Wareham Development, Genser & Watkins LLP, MSH Group, Mr. & Mrs. Rafael Favila, and Atchison Village Credit Union, to date. PRM committee members include Andrew Butt, Pamela Dewitt Delaney, Duane Fitzgerald, Bruce Kaplan, Sydney Metrick, Michele Seville, and Christina Zirker, with invaluable help from many other volunteers. Special thanks to Stacey Dillon for designing our posters.
