Richmond July 3 Independence Day Celebration
June 28, 2013

For those who want to maximize their fireworks viewing, the annual Third of July celebration in Richmond is made to order, with no fewer than three viewing sites available.
The official city location is Marina Bay Park, at the foot of the Marina Bay Parkway, where there will be live blues music, food vendors and a children's play area from 6 to 10 p.m. July 3.
The fifth annual Target Independence Day Celebration with the Oakland East Bay Symphony offers an indoor event guarded from the elements at the Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South. Local performers will be on stage before the symphony performance, which will conclude with patriotic music and viewing of the fireworks through the large windows of the Craneway.
Admission is free, but there is a charge for parking at the Ford Point grounds and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Fireworks viewing and dining will be available on the historic ship SS Red Oak Victory on July 3. Boarding is at 6 p.m., barbecue will be served at 7 p.m., movies and karaoke will be offered in the hold below deck before pyrotechnics time.
Admission, including food, is $25, with proceeds benefiting the restoration and operation of the ship at 1337 Canal Blvd. in the Port of Richmond. For details or to reserve tickets call 510-235-7387 or 510-237-2933.
