The City and County won a resounding Superior Court victory in the property tax allocation lawsuit filed by most of cities and special districts in the County. The lawsuit challenged the Auditor’s decision to allocate reimbursement responsibility for Chevron’s property tax refund to all of the cities and special districts in the County. The challengers’ position was that the City of Richmond should be responsible for virtually all refunds due Chevron. The City was very ably represented at trial by Brett Price. Deputy County Counsel Rebecca Hooley represented the County. Judge Goode’s full opinion is available at the hyperlink above.
