Inspection Ground Zero at the Chevron Refinery October 19, 2012 |

I had an opportunity today to tour the actual location of the Chevron fire of August 6, escorted by Barbara Smith, Brian Garber and Joe Lorenz, all of Chevron. No, I have not taken a job with Chevron; that cool pair of Chevron coveralls I have on is a safety requirement, and I plan to wear the outfit while trick or treating on Halloween. There is intense activity at the site with 470 contract construction workers currently going 24/7 on the repairs. That number will soon escalate to 750 workers. Counting behind the scenes workers, there are probably over 1,000 contract workers engaged on the project even now. The photo below shows the crude unit fully scaffolded.
