Point Richmond’s third annual “Picnic in the Point” will be held on Saturday, September 8th. Last year, this event raised nearly $5,000 to help fund the music program at Washington Elementary School, and we are hopeful that this year’s event will bring in even more funding to support this important cause. COMMUNITY OF POINT RICHMOND TO HOLD THIRD ANNUAL “PICNIC IN THE POINT” TO BENEFIT WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S MUSIC PROGRAM

Afternoon Festival on Saturday, September 8th to Feature Live Music, Arts, Food and Drink, Games for Kids and Adults, Fire Truck, Dunk Tank, Face-painting, and more...(Point Richmond, CA, August 28, 2012)—The historic neighborhood of Point Richmond will hold its third annual “Picnic in the Point” on Saturday, September 8th. The event will feature live music by local bands, games for kids and adults, food and drinks, face-painting, and other activities for people of all ages and interests. All proceeds will help fund the music program at Washington Elementary School in Point Richmond. The event takes place from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Judge George Carroll Park located at the corner of Cutting Blvd and Garrard, just off the 580 freeway, across from the Richmond Plunge.

“Picnic in the Point” is a collaborative effort by the Point Richmond Business Association, Washington School PTA, Point Richmond Music, and PRAM (Parents Resources and More). General admission is free and tickets will be sold for the purchase of games, food, and drink. Advance tickets are available for purchase at the Up and Under Bar and Grill, located at 2 West Richmond Avenue in Point Richmond, and at the Points Richmond Arts Collective, located at 121 Park Place in Point Richmond, up to the day before the event. Twenty dollars in advance
ticket purchases will offer a $30 value in tickets for food, beverages and games. Last years’ event was a great success, raising $5,000 for Washington Elementary School’s music
program. We hope to continue to build this event into a sustainable fundraising effort for music and art programs in the underfunded local schools.
