Point Richmond Music’s Summer Concert Season Continues on Friday 8/10


Point Richmond Music’s 2012 summer concert season continues on Friday, August 10th with a lively and musically diverse double bill: the Blind Willies and La Misa Negra. So start your weekend fun Point Richmond Summer Concert Series postcardearly at the East Bay's hidden gem, Point Richmond, with another fabulous, fun and free Friday concert! The music begins at 5:30pm at the corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue in historic downtown Point Richmond.

PRM concerts are held on the second Friday of each month through September, from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm. The 2012 season will include a fifth concert on Friday, September 28th to close the season. Every concert features a no-host bar (proceeds benefit the Malvern Wilson Alumni Association Scholarship Fund), raffle, face-painting for children and art exhibitions by the Arts of Point Richmond and the Point Richmond Art Collective.

Point Richmond Music is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group that celebrates diversity and promotes the arts and community through the universal language of music. Blind Willies plays original songs written by guitarist/singer Alexei Wajchman. Supported by an accomplished band of experienced young performers, Alexei's music is a soulful mix of rock, folk, jazz, and blues that fits comfortably within the wide arms of alternative rock.

This 8-piece Oakland-based band plays a very unique blend of acoustic Cumbia (Colombian and Panamanian music genre popular throughout Latin America), as well as many Cumbia sub-genres that have been obsolete for decades, such as Gaita, Porro and Bullerengue. La Misa Negra features lead vocals, guitar, bass, percussion, drums, tenor sax, alto sax, and clarinet.

Con Brio is a 6-piece band from San Francisco led by dynamic vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Xandra Corpora.  Backed by horns, organ, bass and drums, the band's sound is high-energy and funky and their shows are captivating and fun.
